Current Openings
Certified Nurse Aide
FT or PT 7am-3pm only. Assists licensed personnel by performing routine functions of basic nursing care to residents. Performs all nursing duties in accordance to the current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility; provides physical support by transporting residents, assists or feeds residents, keeps incontinent residents clean and dry, gives, baths, tubs, and showers, assists residents to dress and undress, serves nourishments & supplements, answers call lights, ensures the safety of resident by following established procedures, other duties as required. Successful applicants will perform activities of daily living, feed and transport, residents in our LTC facility. Current NYS Certification required. Non-NYS certified Nurse Aides must apply for Reciprocity.
GPN
Presently accepting applications for Graduate Practical Nurses prior to taking LPN boards. Candidates will perform patient care duties and patient treatments until receive LPN. Will train. Excellent benefits available. Shifts available: 7-3 or 3-11. Must be able to train at least 8 weeks on 7a-3p shift.
LPN Staff Nurse
FT/PT 3-11 or 11-7 (w/ LTC exp) shifts. Will be responsible for daily assigned duties by the Head Nurse or Charge Nurse, which many include: Administration of medications (35-bed units), treatments, direct patient care, drug ordering as needed, maintaining records and forms in compliance with facility's policies and government regulations, and other duties as assigned for a 35-bed unit. Previous Charge and Medication experience in Long-term care required.
Nurse Aide Training
Nurse Aide openings currently available at James Square. Successful candidates will be trained in a 6-week unpaid training course to become NYS certified. Must be available to work Full-time on the 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm shift as a Nurse Aide after the completion of the training program. Duties will include providing personal care for our residents, including but not limited to, feeding, bathing, toileting, etc. Interested candidates must attend a Nurse Aide Training Information Session on: DATE: 8/13/08 or 9/10/08 TIME: 5:00 pm PLACE: James Square, 918 James Street, Syracuse, NY in order to be considered for the position. The new training class will begin soon! If you have attended an Information Session in the past, you DO NOT NEED to attend the session again. Just call the Human Resource Department at 474-1561 & ask for your application to be reconsidered as a new trainee. Participants will not be paid for attending the training class. Candidates who successfully complete the training class and are hire will receive $1,000 over a period of 6 months. Previous session attendance will be verified.
Nurse Practitioner
Full-Time, M-F position available in our long-term care and rehabilitation facility. Position will develop protocols for the practice for the care and treatment of the residents in collaboration with the medical staff. Make appropriate rounds to assess resident needs; develops, implements and evaluates health care being administered. May perform initial and annual physical exams. Consults with physicians for evaluation or clarification of findings, and with new physicians for collaboration and supervision for a mutually agreeable plan of care. Provide follow-up care including acute and routine exams. Order and perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures to aid in comfortable resident care. Provide pertinent teaching, counseling/physiological and reassurance to resident and/or family regarding psychosocial needs especially in regards to disease, decreased or altered body functions and terminal illness. Assess all new admissions for health history. Reviews medical records of each admission to identify health care needs. Write admissions orders. Evaluate and assist as necessary with changes in resident care plan. Coordinates and makes rounds with consultant physicians, Reviews and interprets laboratory work. Other duties as assigned. Candidates must be a Registered Professional Nurse currently licensed in NYS and certified through NYS as a Nurse Practitioner. Previous Geriatric experience is desirable. RN Nurse Manager
Full-time 7am-3pm position. Position responsible for the overall functioning of nursing service on respective unit on a 24-hour basis. Job Duties include, but are not limited to: completion of the MDS and care plan based on the nursing process, documentation, staff performance, staff meeting and leadership of the unit; organizes the unit and provides leadership for all staff in a assuring care plan compliance with James Square policies and government regulations; develops and implements the comprehensive care plan in collaboration with other disciplines; completes MDS booklets for all covered residents & follows patient changes; assures required documentation is completed by all staff and is in compliance with James Square policies; conducts unit meetings for all shifts to meet the needs of the unit; facilitates the development of staff by participation in orientation and performance appraisals; responsible for identifying problems and taking corrective action; counsels and disciplines staff as needed; administers medication and treatments as needed; reports and investigates residents complaints. $2,500 sign-on bonus. Opportunity for overtime pay as desired.
RN Rehab Care Manager
Full-time, 7am-3pm position available on our Short-term Care Rehabilitation Unit. Job Duties include but are not limited to: performing duties in the absence of the RN Rehab Coordinator; assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all residents on the unit; provides leadership to assure established policies and procedures are followed; functions as the charge nurse of the unit; makes rounds to monitor resident care and medical condition; assures all required documentation is completed daily; assures resident's needs are met; administered medications & treatments as needed; conducts unit meetings in the absence of the Nurse Manager; assists with orientation of new staff; evaluates and provides staff discipline as needed. $2,500 Sign-on bonus. Previous Long-Term Care facility with Rehab experience or Med/Surgical experience preferred. Will train. Previous Charge and Medication in LTC experience is necessary
RN Staff Nurse
FT/PT 3p-11p or 11p-7a shifts. Charge and/or pass meds on a 35-bed unit. Charge/med experience required. $2,500 sign on bonus. Career advancement available.
RN Supervisor
Current opening available for a RN Supervisor; Full-time 3-11. $5,000 Sign-On Bonus, shift differential and shift premium pay available for 3-11. Part-time Weekends 3-11 and/or 11-7 available. Pro-rated Sign-On bonus. Position will be responsible for the following: Supervision of nursing care; promoting observance of nursing service policy and procedures; making appropriate rounds to assess patient/residents needs and nursing service being administered; assess change in patient condition and report to physician when appropriate; supervises development, use and update of patient care plan, reviews and investigates incident reports; evaluates personnel performance and attendance, and make staff recommendations; issues verbal and written warnings to staff documenting specific areas for improvement; assists Director of Nursing with improving nursing services; other duties as assigned. Applicants must be currently licensed and registered as a profession nurse in New York State. Previous supervisory experience required. Previous geriatric nursing preferred.
RN Supervisor Part Time
Presently accepting applications/resumes for a part-time 3-11 RN Supervisor. Duties are the same as the FT RN Supervisor. Position is 2 or 3 days per week (every other Saturday and Sunday and 2 evenings during the week. Additional Part Time RN Supervisor position available on 7a-3p or 11p-7a every other Saturday and Sunday.
Ward Clerk
Full time, 11am-7pm, M-F. Position will be responsible to assist with the clerical aspects of the nursing unit, including ordering of supplies, assisting with the clerical portions of the patient's charts, transcribing doctor's orders, answering the nursing unit phone and directing visitors, and additional clerical responsibilities as requested. Customer Services experience is a plus.
